Dwayne Johnson has signed on to the ‘Journey to the Center of the Earth’ sequel.
The 38-year-old actor is replacing Brendan Fraser in the family action movie, entitled ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’.
Fraser decided not to return after failing to reach a deal on the start date of the movie, leading to studio New Line searching for a new actor – with Johnson in final negotiations.
Brad Peyton is on board to direct the project, while Josh Hutcherson will reprise intrepid explorer Sean Anderson.
The first instalment of the movie made $250 million worldwide in 2008, and the sequel will be shot in October on location in North Carolina and Hawaii, Heat Vision Blog reports.
Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson from Contrafilm and Charlotte Huggins will produce the picture, which will be shot in 3-D.
Dwayne can next be seen in ‘Why Did I Get Married Too?’ alongside Janet Jackson and is currently filming ‘The Fast and the Furious 5′ with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker.
I’m so happy that he has a steady work flow and getting roles in my favorite movies; its like icing on a cake.
Nice. Though it’s like I’m already hearing the bashing mouths starting all over again that he’s doing kiddie movies. Anyway, I’m a steady fan, so I don’t care about anyone.
LOL…I don’t understand why people get so upset because he’s not the only celeb that do children films anyway. So what’s wrong in making the kids laugh? There’s enough project he’s got going on to keep us adults happy…lol I guess that not enough for most people. People take things too seriously sometimes.
Oh I don’t care if he does kids movies or not,and he has worked with Brendan Frasier before.But I just saw this movie and it COULD be one that doesn’t NEED a sequel
Well, I’m not speaking for others. But I’m tired of seeing him making kids laugh. That’s fine for a little while, but its time to see Dwayne make movies that are a little serious. I’m mean Dwayne has been making us laugh ever sense he’s been in the WWE. And to waste all of that finest just to make people laugh on the big screen is sad. I want more skin. Some intimacy with another woman. A romantic drama. Comedy drama. Hell I would love to see Dwayne on the Lifetime network in love with the other mans wife or something. lol. Yea….Something like that.
