FINALLY THE ROCK HAS COME BACK!!!

After watching last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW we long time wrestling fans truly got what we wanted. The Rock really is back to stay in the WWE fold for a very long time. Now I’m not saying he’s going to wrestle at every PPV or at all for that matter. I’m not saying he will be on every RAW because he won’t. The truth is he’s such a bankable superstar actor that he will milk that for as long as he can. BUT you can tell that the whole birthday party on RAW and the way the fans have embraced him once again after being gone for so long has been a real blessing to him. Vince got choked up talking about what the Rock is and what he means to the WWE and you can tell it touched one Mr. Dwayne Johnson as well.

It was a great site to behold and while the rest of RAW may have been lackluster any time the Rock is on a WWE tv set and live no less is truly SOLID GOLD. I will take what I can get because having him there hearkens back to when the WWE was truly as hot as can be and so relevant in mainstream media. He brings what no one else can really bring to the company and that is mainstream societal credibility to the fixed world of pro wrestling or sports entertainment or whatever else you want to call it.

Let’s face it when people find out you like wrestling they always give you a funny look like you’re either mentally challenged or your brain doesn’t work right. Having a big time actor who happened to also be a big time wrestler aka superstar aka sports entertainer only helps with that whole notion of wrestling not being something for intelligent people to like. As a huge fan of his growing up seeing the Rock make some great movies like Fast Five then appear right after on RAW is great to watch and he surely has made a whole new generation of fans along with bringing back people who no longer watch the WWE.

His involvement in this years WrestleMania was a big reason why the buyrates went up by 30% versus last year’s Mania without him. There’s no doubt he brings in the people to watch so keeping him in the fold for years to come is one of the best things that could happen to this company minus him coming back full time to wrestle which we all know isn’t happening. Here’s to many more adventures with the great one on our tv screens. Rock you were sorely missed. Now don’t ever leave again.
