WWE News on Rock’s Return

Dwayne Johnson has not decided upon a Guest Host date for WWE Raw. It looked likely that he would be on the show in January to promote The Tooth Fairy, yet his publicity schedule is filling up rapidly and leaves little time to do Raw. Chances are that he will not be on the January 4th show to go head-to-head with Hulk Hogan’s TNA Impact, or against the UFC live show on January 11th. This movie is likely to be his last family comedy for a while as he wants to move on to other types of movies now. His next one, The Other Guys with Samuel L. Jackson, will be out in the summer. He starts shooting Faster, with Billy Bob Thornton, on January 22nd. There is a chance he will not be available for Raw until March at the earliest.

Latest On Rock Returning To WWE

– It’s been heavily rumored that Dwayne Johnson would be making a one-night return to WWE early next year as the special guest host of an episode of Raw. In an update on the situation, “The Rock” is saying he hasn’t decided upon what day that would be. January, which was the time period primarily discussed with WWE, looks to be challenging and unlikely considering he’s going to be so busy with the publicity campaign for his next movie, Tooth Fairy. WWE reportedly had their sights set on Johnson hosting Raw on either the 4th or the 11th.

On another note, Johnson is saying Tooth Fairy will be his final family comedy movie for a while as he’s looking to move on to different types of roles. He said he set a goal three years ago to do family comedy movies for a while, but feels the time has come to explore other opportunities. The Other Guys, where Johnson worked with Samuel L. Jackson, recently concluded filming and will be out this summer. And once the publicity campaign for Tooth Fairy has completed, he’ll immediately begin shooting his next film, Faster, with Billy Bob Thornton (scheduled for January 22, 2010). Hence, if and when Johnson returns to WWE, it will likely take place in March at the earliest.

‘Planet 51′ scores in Spain and abroad

MADRID — Spain’s €60 million ($90.4 million) animated feature “Planet 51″ has earned some $40 million in its first 10 days of release in the U.S., Spain and Canada, making it Spain’s biggest worldwide boxoffice grosser in 2009.


DeaPlaneta released the animated film produced by Ilion Animation Studios, Handmade Films and Antena 3 Films in Spain Nov. 27, with 500 copies — an unusually high number in Spain — and earned more than €3 million ($4.5 million) over the opening weekend, making it the best non-U.S. animation opening in Spain.

The Spanish premiere came a week after Sony released “Planet 51″ in the U.S., with more than $28.5 million earned to date.

The worldwide figures place the animated comedy, written by “Shrek’s” Joe Stillman with lead voices by Dwayne Johnson and Jessica Biel, ahead of Spain’s other international hits this year, Alejandro Amenabar’s “Agora” and Pedro Almodovar’s “Broken Embraces.”

“Planet 51″ tells of American astronaut Captain Charles “Chuck” Baker who lands on Planet 51 to find an innocent 1950s-style community, which enjoys a peaceful lifestyle with the only fear being the invasion of aliens.

hile out promoting Planet 51, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson mentioned how he still has a great relationship with Vince McMahon and how he’d like to return to RAW soon. According to a source within WWE, the tentative plan is to have The Rock guest host an episode of RAW in January. Stay tuned to the site for more on this.
