Looks like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has gotten over whatever illness drove him through Eddie-Murphy-land with the last few films he starred in (Race To Witch Mountain, Tooth Fairy, Get Smart, Planet 51), and is back to making the kinds of movies he excels in – good old arse-kicking action romps!
He’s currently filming George Tillman Jr.’s Faster; and adding to that, The Wrap reports exclusively that Johnson is attached to star in the action-thriller Protection, replacing Clive Owen in the lead role. Quite a switch from the svelte, urbane Owen to the muscle-bound, rough and rugged Johnson.
The story follows a disgraced former Special Forces soldier who takes on a Mexican cartel, in an attempt to rescue and protect a judge’s 21 year-old daughter, who has been targeted by the cartel for agreeing to testify against one of its members, after she witnesses her father’s murder.
