It seems it’s full steam ahead for the John Chu directed G.I. Joe sequel as news reaches us that not only is the film pinching the June 29th 2012 release date left open by J.J. Abrams not-yet-in-production Star Trek 2, but it has also undergone a title change – from the obvious-sounding G.I. Joe: Cobra Strikes to the more badass G.I. Joe: Retaliation, which I’m hoping means Cobra are going to go on the offensive following their almost-epic destruction at the hands of the joes in Rise of Cobra… If so here’s hoping for a third film where the joes fight back and win!
G.I. Joe: Retaliation is also, according to Deadline, receiving yet another cast member to join the ever-increasing ranks of joes in the film. This time it’s actor Joseph Mazello who has been announced as joining the film. Mazello, who is most famous for his role in Jurassic Park and was more recently seen in The Pacific (pictured above), will play the character of Mouse.
He joins the returning Channing Tatum
as Duke, Ray Park as Snake Eyes and Byung Hun-lee as Storm Shadow. Along with franchise newcomers Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Roadblock, Elodie Yung as Jinx, DJ Cotrona as Flint, Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jaye, RZA as The Blind Master, Ray Stevenson
as Firefly…
