Jon Jones Calls Out The Rock

Last week, we told you about Jon Jones and his addition to the ESPN SportsNation Awesomest Dude Of The Year bracket. He’s paired up against former WWE Champion and current movie star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and despite his win Saturday at UFC 140, he’s still losing in votes to the first “People’s Champ”. (Sorry, Tito Ortiz.)
Jones stopped by ESPN Tuesday and shot some video with SportsNation co-host Michelle Beadle calling out Johnson and then was asked whether he could spin kick an iPad. Yes, you’re reading that correctly.

Fast & Furious 6 Update

Will Polson sent word that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson mentioned on his Twitter account in a conversation with WWE’s Joey Styles that a new “Fast 6″ film would be shooting this summer. According to IMDB.com, Rock is listed as being part of the film.

G. I. Joe World Premiere Trailer

Last night, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson introduced the first trailer and footage from Jon Chu’s sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation, then proceeded to become the new face of the franchise by the trailer’s conclusion.

Chu, along with screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, have been promising a sequel more true to the previously established G.I. Joe brand. Unlike G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobrawhich took many creative liberties, especially in the depiction of terrorist organization Cobra’s leader, Cobra Commander (played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt).

G.I. Joe: Retaliation looks to take the G.I. Joe: Renegadesnarrative path in which the Joes are framed and hunted by the Cobra-controlled government. Most of the Joes from the original film are apparently killed off in a nighttime aerial strike (goodbye Marlon Wayans, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Dennis Quaid, Said Taghmaoui, and unfortunately Rachel Nichols), while the remaining Joes – and new castmembers – including Roadblock (Dwayne Johnson), Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki) and Flint (D.J. Cotrona) go into hiding.

Where the G.I. Joe: Retaliation trailer is winning over fans of the franchise is in its willingness to adhere to the source material. Imagery of Cobra troopers raising a Cobra flag over the White House is the type of thing you’d expect to see in the 1980s cartoon. Cobra Commander looks to be back, and wearing his iconic chrome mask absent from Rise of Cobra. There’s a hovercraft, jet and tank that resemble the Whale, Rattler and HISS tank toys from the 80s. There’s a lot for Joe fans to get excited about.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation also stars Bruce Willis as Joe Colton, Channing Tatum as Duke, Ray Stevenson as Firefly, Elodie Yung as Jinx, Ray Park as Snake Eyes, Byung-hun Lee as Storm Shadown, and Joseph Mazzello as Mouse. Look for it in theaters on June 29, 2012.

Urgent Site Update-Site Theft!!!

Hello everyone, this is an urgent message…I have a stalker that’s copying everything on my site onto theirs make it similar to mine, hot linking my photo gallery, posting my personal comments that’s meant for DJCENTRAL, using links on my site to make it appear that I’m the administrator of that site and I’m clearly not.

This person site name DwayneJohnsonForever.com.

His real name is James Burke.

Every time I’ve asked this person why they’re doing it, I get no answer. When I gave this person a piece of my mind their reply was “lol…so you’re mad now huh?” I’ve been warned by IDJ.ORG he tried the same thing on that site and now he wants to stalk my site. It’s truly sad that this person running a fan page just to be famous. At first I thought this guy was illiterate…then I realized he can’t be if he’s advanced in HTML coding taking the time to steal from my site. The media news sources are…given the thing that puzzles me is that he waits until I’ll post an article purposely and do his dirty work. This is one of the main reasons why I don’t post my artwork anymore because of this type of crap. There are times when I’ve changed articles just to see if he would do the same. This dude watches me so much he re-posted my articles every time I’ve changed them. Here’s a few screen shots to show you what I’m talking about and pay close attention to the tags he re-posted to show you how he’s not the smartest cyber criminal.

I want to make clear I’M NOT ASSOCIATED WITH JAMES BURKE OR HIS SITE! I will upgrade my site so it can be stalker free. And I advise for those true TEAMBRINGIT fan sites do the same to protect their sites from this type of harassment. Please pass this message on because this guy is bad news.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation ET Teaser

Earlier today we showed you a screenshot giving us our first look a Snake Eyes in the Jon Chu directed film, G.I. Joe: Retaliation. It was nice to see that those stupid ass lips he had in the first film were done away with in the new design.

We now have our first look at some actual footage from the movie showing off Bruce Willis as Joe Colton, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Roadblock, and Adrianne Palicki as Lady Jay. The video below is a tease of a teaser that will be shown on Monday. The full trailer will be released on Tuesday. I’ve got to say, the little amount of footage shown in this is much better than anything I saw in the first film. Is it possible this film won’t be as bad as I was expecting? I sure hope not!

Benjamin Bratt joins Snitch

“Private Practice” star Benjamin Bratt has signed on to join Dwayne Johnson in Ric Roman Waugh’s action thriller “Snitch.”Pic, which started production this week in Shreveport, La., is a co-production between Exclusive Media Group, Participant Media and Imagenation Abu Dhabi that will be released in the U.S. by Summit Entertainment.

Inspired by true events, “Snitch” stars Johnson as a father forced to become an informant for the DEA to reduce his falsely accused son’s 10-year jail sentence. Bratt portrays a major player in the Mexican drug trade exposed by protag’s amateur undercover work, which escalates the situation.

Susan Sarandon co-stars alongside Barry Pepper, Jon Bernthal, Melina Kanakaredes, Michael K. Williams, Rafi Gavron and Nadine Velazquez.

Johnson will produce with Dany Garcia and David Fanning, as well as Exclusive, which is co-financing with Participant and Imagenation Abu Dhabi. Waugh adapted the screenplay from an original script by Justin Haythe (“Revolutionary Road”), who will exec produce with Becki Cross Trujillo, as well as Exclusive and Participant Media.

“Snitch,” which shoots in Shreveport until Jan. 19, is currently slated for theatrical release in the first quarter of 2013.

Bratt is no stranger to films about the drug trade, having played a drug kingpin in Steven Soderbergh’s “Traffic.” He’s repped by WME and D/F Management.

Dwayne Johnson feeling Bay’s ‘Pain’

After a decade in development, Michael Bay’s “Pain and Gain,” a low-budget (by his standards) dark comedy about bodybuilders, is finally moving forward, as Dwayne Johnson is in early talks to topline the long-gestating pic.

Bay has been looking to cast Johnson and his “The Other Guys” co-star Mark Wahlberg as the two steroid-abusing leads, and recently discussed the film with both thesps. While insiders caution that it’s still early in the casting process, sources close to Wahlberg have indicated that his busy schedule is expected to keep him from pursuing Bay’s passion project, for which Johnson remains a frontrunner.

Based on a Miami New Times article from 1999, “Pain and Gain” will follow a pair of Florida bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong.

“Captain America” scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely wrote the original script and have compared its tone to the Coen brothers’ “Fargo,” which was also based on a true crime story.

Long-gestating dark comedy, which is said to carry a modest $20 million price tag and does not yet have an official greenlight, is set up at Paramount and will be produced by Bay and Donald De Line, who has been involved with the project since 2001.

Johnson has been working non-stop since helping to usher “Fast Five” to the highest gross in Universal’s “Fast and Furious” franchise. With “Pain and Gain” expected to start production in the spring, Johnson would be able to squeeze the film in before returning for the sixth and seventh entries in “Fast” series, which Universal would ideally like to shoot back-to-back beginning next year. Johnson, who returns to family fare with “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” Feb. 10, recently wrapped “G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation” and will soon begin filming Ric Roman Waugh’s action thriller “Snitch.”

Several projects are in contention for Wahlberg’s next gig, including Universal’s “2 Guns” and Adam McKay’s football comedy “Three Mississippi.” In recent years, Wahlberg has mixed comedies such as “The Other Guys” and “Date Night” in between dramatic turns in “The Fighter” and “The Lovely Bones.”

New Line is planning for Journey 3

“Journey 2” doesn’t hit theaters until Feb. 10, but the movie tested well over the weekend, and New Line has attached the film’s team to “Journey 3” – if there is such a movie – TheWrap has learned.

Director Brad Peyton, writers Brian Gunn, and Mark Gunn and producers Beau Flynn, Charlotte Huggins and Tripp Vinson are attached to the third installment in the franchise.

The first of the “Journey” films, the 2008 “Journey to the Center of the Earth,” grossed nearly $102 million domestically and $242 million worldwide on a $60 million budget.

That movie starred Brendan Fraser and Josh Hutcherson. Eric Brevig directed.

The second, the 3D “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” stars Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson and Vanessa Hudgens.

It is unclear whether they will return for a third “Journey” film, but TheWrap has learned that the studio would like to have the cast, as well as the director, writers and producers, back for a possible third “Journey.”

The first movie was based on Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth.” The second is based on his “Mysterious Island.”
