And now Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has  revealed the secrets behind creating the incredible stunts, in an exclusive  behind-the-scenes look at Fast And Furious 6.

The 41-year-old action man is seen showing  viewers a Jeep on a gimbal, which is used to shoot the most explosive action sequence at the  end of the film.

Explaining the scene, The Rock said:  ‘I’m on the Jeep  and the bad guys are on a Russian Antonov, which is a massive airplane. And  we have to get to the Antonov, which is actually moving at 115mph, but we also  have to get on  the Antonov.

‘So in true action hero mode I drive the jeep  all the way up to the plane, I jump in and I do things that a normal man  wouldn’t be  able to do, but considering my character is a man and a half, I’ll  be  able to do.’

The Rock added that with the addition of computer generated imagery, the scenes turned out to be some of the most exciting of the  film.

He said: ‘It’s a massive action sequence, we  started shooting it yesterday and today and it’s going to be  unbelievable.

‘As you can see there’s a lot of green  screen around, and when you see it, thanks to the wonderful Hollywood  magic,  it will be an amazing sequence.’

And asked if he gets involved in any  rivalries among castmembers on set, The Rock joked: ‘ I’m sure they do their Mickey Mouse  games but I don’t get involved in that. I’m  off, doing my own thing,  kicking ass. That’s why they hired me!’

Pain and Gain stars Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg will star in a new HBO dramedy pilot. The untiled show will follow retired athletes living in Miami and is scheduled to begin shooting this fall. The project comes from Entourage‘s Stephen Levinson and will be produced by Johnson, Wahlberg, Dany Garcia and Peter Berg. There’s no word on when the show will begin airing if it’s picked up.

LOS ANGELES—Just when Dwayne Johnson is about to finally realize his dream to  star in a Hercules movie, a competing project comes along with “Twilight” star  Kellan Lutz as the Greek god.

But that doesn’t dampen Dwayne’s enthusiasm to play the son of Zeus in “Hercules: The Thracian Wars.” In our recent interview in Miami, Dwayne said, “‘Hercules’ is something that I have been chasing and developing for over a  decade. When I first got into Hollywood, one of my first thoughts was,   where is ‘Hercules’ and who’s doing it? I was in a different position at that  time than I am today. But I always had ‘Hercules’ in the back of my mind. My  onscreen heroes are Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan, Harrison Ford as Indiana  Jones and Hercules. Hercules is essentially the world’s first superhero.”

The former wrestling  champ admitted, “I feel like I was born to play Hercules. I’m very excited. The  prep has been 12 to 14 weeks with dialect coaches. We’re getting ready to go to  Budapest (Hungary) to shoot for four and a half months. We’ve put together a  great team.”

The team includes director Brett Ratner, writers Ryan Condal and Evan  Spiliotopoulos (who adapted from the novel, “Hercules: The Thracian Wars” created by Steve Moore and Admira Wijaya), and a cast composed of Ian McShane,  John Hurt, Rufus Sewell and Joseph Fiennes.

“I respect the mythology of Hercules to such a great deal,” said the son of  an African-American wrestler Rocky Johnson and Samoan Ata Johnson. “What’s so  exciting is when you’re making a film that has a foundation in a beloved  mythology. We all felt that if we were going to make ‘Hercules,’ [we should]  make the definitive version that would stand the test of time. Hopefully it will  be the basis by which similar movies like these are going to be measured, and we  could raise the bar. We’ll make it darker. We’re very familiar with Hercules and  his labors. We’ll do some really interesting things. We have a phenomenal  writer, a Greek (Evan Spiliotopoulos), who came on board. He’s deeply connected  to the mythology of Hercules.”

“I wish those guys the best of luck with their  movie,” he said of “Hercules 3D,” which will be directed by Renny Harlin and  written by Sean Hood and Hanna Weg, and which will be shot in Sofia, Bulgaria. “We’ll make ours and the audience will decide. There’s room [for both movies].”

Kellan’s project is set to open in the United States in March 2014, with  Dwayne’s version taking a July 2014 schedule.

“I’ll show you what our definitive version of Hercules will look like,” said  Dwayne, who also stars with Mark Wahlberg in Michael Bay’s “Pain & Gain.” He  showed a photo on his iPad of how they envision Hercules. “I’m going to look  good with long hair,” he said, grinning.

Healthy diet

A man whose humongous arms seem bigger than my two legs combined, Dwayne  talked about how he deals with aging. He explained, “I found out as I got a  little older—I turned 40 this year—that I train smarter, really try and  understand and educate  myself on supplements and what I’m eating, when I’m eating. I hired a great diet  conditioning coach, who is very knowledgeable in helping me not only for these  roles but even in between roles, and to understand what certain foods do and  don’t do. We have wonderful holistic doctors in New Mexico who continue to do  body testing and things like that.”

Dwayne revealed that he does eat whatever he craves “once a week or every two  weeks. I treat myself. It’s what I call ‘Don’t cheat yourself.’ You got to treat  yourself so I have pizza, brownies or whatever it is.”

“I love chocolate,” he said. “On my cheat day, my girlfriend (Lauren Hashian)  makes these incredible  brownies. She’ll take two brownie boxes. She’ll lay one brownie mix down, put  peanut butter cookie mix in the middle and then she’ll layer another brownie on  top of it, then bake that. It’s amazing.”

For years, the professional wrestling world has been in awe of Dwayne “The  Rock” Johnson simply because what he has achieved in his wrestling career. He’s  been a WWE champion in wrestling and also been  Hollywood’s favourite for some time. Now he has added a very special  award to his illustrious career.

Johnson was recognized by the University of Miami’s(UM)  Alumni association last Thursday night at the Alumnus of distinction award  during an awards ceremony at the UM campus.

The awards program honours alumni (former  students) who have been successful in their field or have made a significant  impact through community service. The “Alumnus of Distinction” is the  highest honour that a UM graduate can receive for personal and  professional achievements that bring honour to the university.

The Rock continues to help the University of Miami. In  the past he has generously donated to the UM’s Alumni centre and the  Football facilities renovation fund. It was noted to be the largest donation ever given to the university’s athletics department by a former  student.

Dwayne Johnson is certainly starting to develop a knack for reinvigorating franchises; three of his last four movies have seen him joining the cast at the sequel stage, with Fast Five, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and G.I. Joe: Retaliation all raking in the cash at the box office. We already know he’s set to return to the Fast & Furious franchise for this year’s Fast & Furious 6 (as well as next year’s Fast & Furious 7, which has just been officially announced by Vin Diesel today), and now it seems he’s set to return to the role of Roadblock for G.I. Joe 3, which has already been given the green light by Paramount Pictures.

“What we would love to do with the sequel to G.I. Joe, which will definitely happen—we set ourselves up nicely with this past G.I. Joe because we really paid attention with respected homage to the mythology,” said Johnson in an interview with Collider. “And now that we’ve redesigned that foundation of the mythology, there are many places to go. There are phenomenal G.I. Joe characters who we can bring to life, we’re all talking about it now, and certainly [thinking about] using the 3D platform in even better ways for the next one, so, I’m very excited about that.”

Despite his Wrestlemania loss to John Cena earlier this month, The Rock is certainly on a roll at the moment, which looks to continue this year with the release of the aforementioned Fast & Furious 6, as well as Michael Bay’s bodybuilding crime-caper Pain & Gain and the heist drama Empire State.
