Last summer’s Fast Five exceeded financial and critical expectations, and Universal is reteaming with director Justin Lin for the next film in the franchise. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson and other cast members are set to reprise their roles, and a new addition has now been revealed.

Luke Evans (Immortals, The Three Musketeers) has now entered into negotiations to join the large ensemble cast. According to Variety.com, “plot details are being kept under wraps, but sources say it would involve the crew heading overseas to work on a heist job. Evans would play the leader of another crew trying to pull off the same job.” He can next be seen in Peter Jackson’s highly anticipated film The Hobbit which hits theaters this December.

The Fast and the Furious franchise follows former police detective Brian Connor and street racer Dominic Toretto as they attempt to evade law enforcement while participating in high stakes races and heists around the country. Dwayne Johnson was the latest addition to the franchise in the role of federal agent Luke Hobbs. Fast and Furious 6 is currently slated for theatrical release on May 24, 2013.

FILM: Susan Sarandon

Susan Sarandon is in negotiations to join Dwayne Johnson in Snitch, the action thriller which Ric Roman Waugh is writing and directing for Exclusive Media, Participant Media and Imagenation Abu Dhabi.

The script centers on a suburban father who is hit hard when his teenage son is sentenced to 30 years under mandatory minimum drug laws. In order to reduce his son’s sentence, the father goes undercover to serve up a senior drug dealer. The story is based on a Frontline documentary.

In a part that was reconfigured from male to female, Sarandon will play an ambitious U.S. attorney who believes that a drug bust can help her political career.

Waugh rewrote the script by Justin Haythe. The project has been long in development and at one point was set up at New Line with Carl Franklin directing one iteration.

Nigel Sinclair, Guy East and Alex Brunner are producing. David Fanning, Dany Garcia and Johnson are also producing.

Summit will release Snitch in the U.S.

ICM-repped Sarandon, who last appeared in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, is coming off shooting the Adam Sandler comedy I Hate You Dad, Lionsgate’s Gently Down the Stream with Robert De Niro and Diane Keaton, and Robert Redford’s The Company You Keep. She next reteams with the Wachowskis for Cloud Atlas (she worked with them in Speed Racer), the movie the duo is directing with Tom Tykwer that also stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Hugh Grant.

NBC can smell what the Rock — and Jerry Bruckheimer — are cooking.

Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” producer Jerry Bruckheimer are teaming up to create a drama for the network centered around wrestling in the 1980s, the pair confirmed on their Twitter accounts Tuesday.

“Look forward to teaming up with @THEROCK on exciting new wrestling project,” Bruckheimer wrote. After which, a slightly less subdued Johnson chimed in, “Kickin’ Ass! Excited to partner up w @BruckheimerJB & @NBC to create 1980′s wrestling TV drama.”

“Scorpion King” actor Johnson served full-time as a wrestler on the World Wrestling Federation (later World Wrestling Entertainment) circuit from 1996 until 2003, appearing part-time after that, only to ramp his involvement back up as the host of WrestleMania XXVII.

Bruckheimer’s recent ventures include the ABC reality competition “Take the Money & Run.”

CM Punk calls The Rock Corny!

This past Monday, WWE Champion CM Punk has been conducted an interview with Mark Madden on 105.9 The X, Pittsburgh. In the interview, he touches on a variety of topics.

He states that he has been able to give inputs lately, but also adds that everyone can add input.

Regarding if WWE has gone through change, he says this:

“I think things aren’t going to change over night. A few little things have already changed. Just the face they’re listening to different people is a step in the right direction. It’s going to take a while. Obviously I’m one who’s an advocate for any kind of change. Getting guys like Zack Ryder on TV is a step in the right direction. He’s entertaining, that’s the bottom line. Is he going to main event WrestleMania this year? No. Maybe he will in a couple of years, you never know. I’m just happy what little change has been implemented thus far has been implemented.”

Punk acknowledges that people have been making comparisons with him to Stone Cold Steve Austin, and explains that he doesn’t want to create another Attitude Era. He emphasizes that he wants to make wrestling fun again. He hopes that everyone tunes in next week, just to see what will happen next, because that’s his goal.

He then talks about his opponent John Cena, the interim WWE Champion, and acknowledges that he has said some scathing things about him, but puts him over as a person that really loves working for the WWE. Regarding Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, he explains that what he said about him is true.

“I’m in a position now where I think I can call guys out on it, I have no personal problems against Dwayne. It’s very frustrating being here and watch a guy come in and get credit for a WrestleMania buyrate when he didn’t do anything on the show. He certainly didn’t do anything entertaining. There’s a line he crossed at some point where I think he is just as out of touch as the Vince McMahons and everybody else. I’m not calling Rock old, he’s still obviously a young physical fit guy but his ideas are old and his shtick is corny in my opinion. Hopefully when my ideas are old and my shtick is corny, there’s some young punk that’s going to call me out on it. Hopefully Dwayne takes it as, “ok when I come here I have to step it up”, and hopefully he does.”
